Neil keeps the nail short. A square with a slight softness at the corner, never a long extension, never a charm. The point is the line where the color stops.
This month the edit is bone and ink. Nine nails in a warm off-white, one nail in matte black. It reads as tailoring, not decoration. Guests who live in dark clothes tend to stay with it.
The appointment is seventy-five minutes for one color, a little longer if the black nail is part of the set. We shape, tidy the cuticle, and lay a thin gel. We do not sand the nail plate down to make it stick.
Short nails, a hard edge, and color that stays quiet. The set we return to when the season feels loud.
